MHSS Conducts Math Review for MTAP

Monday, July 25, 2011

Malayan High School of Science’s (MHSS) advanced curriculum and state-of-the-art delivery of its instruction has paved the way for its re-accreditation as Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) Review Center for school year 2011–2012. It is the only accredited review center within the area. As such, one of MHSS’ responsibilities is to offer MTAP review not only to its own students but to students of neighboring schools as well. Likewise, it has to be actively involved in all the activities of MTAP.

For this school year, MHSS has organized a series of mathematics review sessions for Grade VI and high school students. The sessions started last July 16 and will run for six Saturdays until August 20. The teachers who handle the review classes are Mr. Dhonny Bacuyag for first year high school, Engr. Ildan Aseron for second year high school, Mr. Christian Bernard Roxas for third year high school, and Dr. Efren B. Mateo for fourth year high school. Mrs. Marianne Roxas, mathematics teacher from Georgia International School, Antipolo, Rizal, handles the review sessions for the Grade VI level. A total of 192 students registered for the program.

The MTAP review aims to generate greater interest in mathematics and develop mathematical talents in students. It also prepares students for achievement tests, such as the National Achievement Tests for Grade VI and Second Year High School, and entrance tests for high schools, colleges, and universities.
