Malayan Science students shine in 17th LIYAB journalism competition

Malayan High School of Science (MHSS) students won awards in the 17th LIYAB NCR-wide Journalism Press Conference held last October 12 and 19 at Philippine Normal University (PNU).

Grade 10 students Aminah M. Bongaros and Matthew Sebastian V. Pascua earned top spots in the journalism competition. Bongaros placed third in Feature Writing, while Pascua finished fifth in in Photojournalism. They were mentored by MHSS English teacher Joanne Dimacali.

Themed “Gampanin ng Kabataang Mamamahayag: Masidhing Pagpapaalab ng Pluma Tungo sa Pagmulat,” this year’s journalism press conference was participated by over 900 students from 65 schools. The conference featured six competing categories with English and Filipino counterparts and two photojournalism categories, and also honored the best student publications in the region.

Established in 2006, Malayan High School of Science is a leading high school in Manila. It offers a science, technology, and mathematics-oriented curricula and utilizes advanced digital technologies for teaching learning. Its students are exposed to local and international competitions, allowing them to showcase their various talents and skills in the areas of science and technology, music and arts, languages and humanities, among others.
