MHSS Seniors Attend Career Orientation

Thursday, September 24, 2009

The graduating students of MHSS underwent a career orientation, dubbed as Career Orientation 09, on September 23 & 24, 2009 at the Audio-Visual Room. The main objective of the activity is to help and guide students in making decision as to the course they shall enroll in college and eventually, the career they shall pursue in life. Addressing the audience in his welcome remarks, Dr. Efren B. Mateo, school principal, stressed to the students: A person’s worth is often measured by the career success or failure. Thus, a career choice is an important and significant decision you have to make.

Several schools, including MHSS mother school, Mapúa, were invited to present their course offerings. The different speakers enlightened students about the wide range of opportunities upon graduation, for the courses offered by their respective colleges or universities. Some of them even conducted surveys on the course preferences of students, perhaps, for their reference and guide in revising existing curricula or in coming up with new programs. The other invited schools were: Centro Escolar University, Asia Pacific College, Enderun College, University of Asia and the Pacific, College of St. Benilde, Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology, University of Santo Tomas, Letran College, Far Eastern University, St. Scholastica’s College, and St. Paul University-Manila.

Career Orientation 09 is part of the program of the Guidance Services of the school, through the able leadership of the guidance counselor, Ms. Cheryll Salumbides and the assistance of the fourth year advisers – Mr. Jan Erwin Macam, Mr. Jayson Chavez, and Mr. Christian Roxas – and Ms. Genevieve Hilario.
