Malayans in Action: Taking Aim, Making a Mark

Joining in the brightest and smartest representatives of the finest high schools in the Metro, the Malayan High School of Science made its mark by capping the fourth place in the recently concluded National Youth Congress Economics Quiz Bee held last August 29, 2009, at the UP School of Economics, Diliman, Quezon City.

Leading the barrage is Camilla C. Bautista (IV-Threonine), one of Malayan Seniors’ academic top guns.

She was joined in the said event by Piere Justin R. Luya (IV-Leucine), Kathleen C. Ching (IV-Threonine), Rachel Ira T.Avila (IV-Leucine), Kyle Zuleika Farrah M. Pandapatan (IV-Threonine), Dustin Lemuel A. Marcelo (IV-Alanine), Anya Selena C. Canlas (IV-Threonine), Ryan Jeremy M. Simbulan (IV-Alanine), Marco D. Rodriguez (IV-Leucine) and Ingrid Frances D. Ignacio (IV-Alanine).

The competition which was participated in by no less than 200 high school student-delegates from all over Metro Manila, was part of the culminating activity of the 6th Annual National Youth Congress in Economics organized by the UP Economics Society.

University of the Philippines-Integrated School, Xavier School, and Holy Spirit High School raked the first, second, and third places respectively in the same competition.

Mr. Ronald Alvarez, Economics teacher and coach, accompanied the MHSS delegates.
