Malayan High School of Science Marks 1st Anniversary with Week Long Activities

   
 

Mapua subsidiary Malayan High School of Science (MHSS) turned a year old on January 16, marking its founding day with week long activities that highlight its commitment to deliver quality education that meets international standards.

The week-long celebration kicked off with an academic competition in Math, Science, History, and Current events on 16 January. It will be highlighted by the hosting of the elimination round of the annual Department of Education-Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTA) Math Challengeon on January 19. Hundreds of elementary and high school students from NCR-based schools are expected to participate in the contest that promotes math competency among Filipino youth.

To ensure the full and complete development of its students, MHSS will likewise hold a poetry reading session called “Y Read,” and a Creative Art Seminar. Students will also exercise their Math abilities through a Mental Math Seminar to be sponsored by MSA Academy. A motivation seminar entitled “Play to Win” led by Mapua and MHSS President Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea will likewise be held. He will be joined by Mapua alumnus, Dr. Bernardo Redona, and the President of the MHSS Parents Council Dr. Ramon Alava.

The last day of the celebration will be an “open house” activity for MHSS students and guests from other schools to view interesting and unique projects made by MHSS students. The “Underwater Roving Vehicle” invention of the Mapua Robotics Club which recently swept all the awards in the student category of the National Inventors Awards will likewise be part of the exhibit.
