Malayan Science High School inaugurated today
Manila Bulletin – January 16, 2006

Philippine Ambassador to China and Japan Alfonso T. Yuchengco leads today the inauguration of the Malayan High School of Science at its school campus in Pandacan, Manila.

An affiliated of the Mapua Institute of Technology, Malayan Science is set to open in June with a vision to become an international center of excellence in science and technology education.

Dr. Reynaldo Vea, president of both Mapua Institute of Technology and MHSS, said that “the founding of the Malayan High School of Science gives Filipino children a good opportunity to acquire a high school education of international standards, which will hopefully open many doors for them in later years.”

The program is designed to facilitate better participation of its graduates in global, knowledge-based economy and help in the country’s effort to develop globally competitive human resources.

“MHSS will show the same dedication to quality education and the same wonder of imagination and innovation for which Mapua, the mother institution, is well known,” Dr. Vea added.

Aside from a strong foundation in the sciences, attention will also be given to communication skill as well as the arts and humanities.
