Malayan High Whiz Kid Bags Gold Medal
Luc Mikhail H. Loja, 11 year-old sophomore of the Malayan High School of Science (MHSS), won the gold medal in the Chess Junior Division of the NCAA 83 rd Season. Loja, a gifted child, who was accelerated to High School with the endorsement of the Department of Education (DepEd), bested a select field of chess players from the other seven member schools of the NCAA.

Coined from the words, “kinetic, “cognitive” and “Olympics” with the theme, “Academics and Sports in Harmony Towards Excellence”, the activity aims to develop academic excellence among students utilizing sports as a motivating factor.

MHSS is slated to formally open classes in June with a vision to become an international center of excellence in science and technology and a mission to help the country develop globally competitive human resources.
