MHSS Captures Silver in the 2nd Metro Manila S&T Quiz Show

MHSS team garnered second place in the 2nd Metro Manila Science and Mathematics Quiz show – dubbed as the National Scientist Dr. Paulo C. Campos Award. The battle of the brains was sponsored by the School of Science, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Ermita, Manila. It was held on December 4, 2009 at the EAC Building 6, Main Auditorium.

Twenty-two high schools from all over Metro Manila joined the contest. They were trimmed down to 12 schools after the elimination round. In the final round, 20 questions in mathematics and the same number of questions in science were asked. Each question is worth 1 point. After the last question was asked, Gideon School tallied with 34 points earning the first place. MHSS settled for second place with 29 points and PCU-Union School of Science came in close for third place with 28 points. For bringing home silver, the MHSS contestants received a certificate of recognition, a trophy and a cash of PhP 3,000.

The MHSS team was represented by the duo of Piere Luya and Dustin Marcelo, both graduating students. They were accompanied by 10 of their classmates to give moral support. Mr. Dhonny Bacuyag, MHSS physics teacher, was the coach-chaperon.
