It seems just like yesterday when in 1964 I was among the first batch of 114 students to enter the Philippine Science High School. Oh, the excitement of those pioneering years that to this day excites us still in remembering!

How lucky and blessed I am then to be able to participate in giving birth to another high school of science!

I would want for our first and succeeding batches of students to experience what we did then - and more! Surely, by way of facilities we can do much, much better. But more importantly we are assembling topnotch faculty whom the students will remember fondly for all of the rest of their lives because they opened their minds, unleashed their imagination, encouraged their curiosity and gave them a method to satisfy it, gave them the gift of words and numbers, opened their senses to the arts, understood the need for both work and play, and just plain touched their lives.

We realize that high school is a very sensitive and important phase in our lives. We shall strive for the full and balanced development of our students: intellectually, emotionally, socially, morally, spiritually and physically. They shall be at the center of our small universe.

As the world economy is driven ever more by science and technology the relevance of a science high school, after all these years, still cannot be overstated. Our venture into the Malayan High School of Science is our contribution to our country's efforts to take full advantage of a global, knowledge-based economy. It is our way of giving Filipino families the opportunity to have their children undergo a high school education of international standards, which hopefully will open many doors for them in later years.

So please come study and pioneer with us. We bring to the Malayan High School of Science the same dedication to quality education and the same wonder at new things and innovations that its mother school, the Mapua Institute of Technology, is known for.
